Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

ADHD is a condition that affects a young person's behavior and often causes difficulty with them being able to actively and fully engage with their school studies. Difficulties are often apparent from a young age but may become more noticeable from a change, such as starting to attend school and when demands are increased educationally from a play-based curriculum in nursery and reception classes to more traditional learning in years 1, 2 and 3.

ADHD assessments with Will Barker assessments will include;

  • Neurodevelopmental Assessment with parents and/ or caregivers (this can be up to two hours either remotely or face to face at my therapy space)

  • Completion of parent screening questionnaires

  • Direct observation of the young person in my clinic setting (This will take 60-90 minutes for a face-to-face appointment)

  • Liaison with school including formal feedback reports and standardized questionnaires.

  • If required a structured school consultation with a class teacher and/or special educational needs coordinator (this would be completed remotely over 30-60 minutes)

  • Conclusion/ Feedback Meeting (this is completed remotely and will take 30 minutes)

Following the assessment, you will receive a formal diagnostic report with an outcome from the assessment with recommendations for implementing at home and school setting.

If you require advice to be provided for an Education, Health and Care Plan this can also be provided for an additional fee following providing you formal feedback of the assessment.

If you are interested in pursuing an assessment please get in touch and we can organise an initial conversation about the process involved and the costs of the assessment.

In addition to the assessment I can also offer post diagnostic psycho-education for parents and the young person which takes around two to three hours.
